  Online and Classroom Courses

Attend In-Class or Live-Online From Anywhere in the World!


Chicago is home to the U.S. futures industry, so it’s no surprise that the Chicago exchanges and universities offer some of the finest classroom instruction available. These courses are reasonably priced and open to the public. All programs are taught by industry professionals, such as Larry Schneider, director of sales and marketing for the Zaner Group.

Northwestern University's School of Continuing Studies offers non-academic credit courses in futures and options trading. These classes are offered in a "live/online" simulcast environment -- which means you can attend either the Chicago classroom or online from anywhere in the world! Currently three courses are offered:

  • Basics of Futures and Options
  • Technical Analysis
  • Economics of Markets and Trading (Begins April 22, 2008)

    • Course Particulars
  • 2 classes a week: Tuesday & Thursday evenings
  • Spring '08 offering: First class is Tuesday, May 13, 2008; Last class is Thursday, June 5.
  • Each class is held 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm (Central), but is recorded for 24/7 viewing

    The Chicago Mercantile Exchange offers two online (pre-recorded) courses on Currency and FX futures trading.

  • The Dynamics of Foreign Exchange
  • Advanced Strategies for Foreign Exchange Traders
    • These courses are free and self-paced (meaning you can log-in and "attend" 24/7)

    The Chicago Board of Trade also offers specialized 1 and 2 day Workshops. The current offerings include:

    • 2 Day Ag Markets Workshop; with emphasis on hedging practices.
    • Ag Options Workshop
    • Financial Options Workshop
    • Advanced Technical Trading Strategies

    At present (March 19, 2008) there are no Ag Market workshops scheduled, but when dates and locations are next announced, we will post them here.
